Whilst you wait for us to arrive, there are several things you can do to limit the damage caused by a burst pipe or other plumbing failure:
- In the case of a burst water pipe, shut off your main water supply. If only one appliance is affected, you should be able to turn off the water for that appliance using its shutoff valve.
- Clear the space around the leak – remove any items of furniture that are at risk of water damage and move them to a dry area of your house until the leak is fixed.
- If you suspect that water may have come into contact with any electrics, turn your electrical supply off immediately and await further advice from the emergency plumber.
